In 2010, two leading hoteliers at the pinnacle of their individual careers looked for their next great adventure. Bursting with passion and ideas, they came together to establish ‘The Banquet Company’ and fulfil their dream of creating once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
From day one, we have been trend setters and various practices that are popular now, such as decorated panels, were pioneered by The Banquet Company. In fact, one of the single largest shipments of flowers ever for a wedding in Sri Lanka, weighing in at over 6,000 kilograms, was handled by us.
We have worked with reputed foreign event planners and this experience has allowed us to fine-tune our approach and maintain international event planning standards at all of our events. Our quest for excellence has even seen us represent Sri Lanka at the Destination Wedding Planners Congress in Thailand.

Dunstan St J Kanagasundram, Hospitality Consultant
Dunstan, (or Dunky as he is affectionately referred to), is a stalwart in the local Hospitality Industry with a career spanning 33 years,
which commenced at The Lanka Oberoi (now Cinnamon Grand). With a reputation for being one of the industry’s most dedicated individuals, is known for his expertise in handling difficult challenges while maintaining a calm & professional demeanor.
During his tenure as a member of the Cinnamon Grand Executive Committee where he was heading the Food & Beverage team, the hotel won the “Sri Lanka’s Best Five Star City Hotel” for Three consecutive years, which took the hotel to the Presidential Award Hall of Fame.
His reputation for handling the high statured functionsthat hotel hosted together with countless number of weddings and other occasions and his flair for creativity, out-of-the-box thinking & dedication to completing every task to exceed expectations with all his clients, combined with many years of experience makes Dunstan an impressive force to be reckoned with in this industry.
Hemant A Dadlani, Hospitality Consultant
During a career spanning 17 years, Hemant has worked at some of the well renowned 5-star hotels in Sri Lanka, from the Jaic Hilton to one of the country’s most popular luxury 5 star city hotel, Cinnamon Grand. His career path has taken him previously to Rhett’s Bar & Bistro in Adelaide, Australia & to Crieff Hydro in Scotland as a Bar Manager & Assistant Manager respectively.
Following a brief stint at the Hilton in Malaysia, Hemant returned to Sri Lanka as a the only specialized Beverage Manager creating such concepts as the first ever pudding cocktail and a 6ft Wine Fountain.
Aiding him in his pursuit of excellence is this young entrepreneur’s impressive Graduate level education – which began at the renowned Sophia Polytechnic in India, & continued on to the famed Le Cordon Bleu in Australia to complete his Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality.
His determination, friendly & calm disposition, a never-say-die attitude, & a cheerful, winsome smile, ensure that Hemant is an individual who will undoubtedly bring a level of sophistication & perfection to any work.
